Interior Painting
In 2021 I repainted a 2,100 sq ft Craftsman in Kirkland for the Martinez family — they had been putting it off for six years because a previous painter left brush marks on their dining room trim. I used a Wooster Chinex brush, Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane on the trim, and spent 40 minutes sanding that old work flat before touching it. The trim came out factory-smooth.
I use Sherwin-Williams Duration or Benjamin Moore Aura for walls (client choice), Emerald Urethane for trim and doors. Two coats minimum; three if the existing color is significantly darker. Furniture gets wrapped with plastic sheeting and floors get Ram Board — not just a drop cloth.

Exterior House Painting
Western Washington is hard on paint — moss, tannin bleed on cedar, winter moisture cycling. Skipping the alkyd primer step is the reason 60% of exterior jobs fail in under four years. In 2022 I repainted a 1960s cedar-siding home on 196th in Lynnwood — original siding that had never been properly primed. After the alkyd prime coat, two coats of Duration went on clean and passed a 2024 re-inspection without any touch-ups.
My process: pressure wash, 48-hour dry time, scrape all loose material, Zinsser BIN on resin-rich knots, oil-alkyd primer on cedar, then two coats of Sherwin-Williams Emerald Exterior. Caulking all penetrations is included — it is not an add-on.

Kitchen Cabinet Painting
In 2024 the Henderson family in Edmonds hired me to repaint their 1998 oak kitchen. Oak grain is the tricky part — painting raw oak without grain fill leaves visible grain lines through the finish regardless of coat count. I applied two coats of Aqua Coat grain filler, sanded to 220, then sprayed Benjamin Moore Advance in three coats through a 1.5mm HVLP tip. The doors came out as smooth as factory-painted MDF.
I remove all doors and drawers, number them, and spray them flat in my mobile spray setup. Box interiors and frames get brush and roll. Hardware goes in marked bags so reinstallation is clean. No brush marks, no orange peel.

Drywall Repair & Painting
In 2023 I was called to a Bellevue home in Crossroads — a pipe had dripped inside a wall for six months before the owner noticed the bubbling paint. The previous contractor had patched over the bubble without cutting back to dry material. My moisture meter read 22% at the patch edge. I cut back to dry framing, applied Zinsser Mold Killing Primer on exposed framing, then new drywall, tape, setting compound, texture match, PVA prime and two finish coats. The repair has held clean.
I am EPA RRP certified — which matters in any home built before 1978, where paint disturbance requires lead-safe work practices. Kirkland, Shoreline and Seattle have significant pre-1978 housing stock.

Common Questions
How much does interior painting cost in Seattle or Bothell?
A single room (12x12) runs $350–$550 with two coats of Sherwin-Williams Duration. A 1,500 sq ft home with ceilings, trim and walls typically falls between $3,800 and $5,500 in 2026. Prices vary by ceiling height, trim complexity and number of colors.
How long does exterior painting take?
A 1,800 sq ft two-story house takes 3–4 days: one day for pressure washing and scraping, one day for primer, two days for finish coats. I schedule around weather forecasts and never apply paint below 50 degrees F or with rain forecast within 24 hours.
Do you repair drywall before painting?
Yes, and I moisture-test every damaged area first. Water-damaged drywall reading above 15% MC gets cut back to dry material — painting over wet substrate is the main reason patched areas bubble or crack within a year.
Are you licensed and EPA RRP certified?
Yes. Pizoni Painting is licensed by Washington State L&I and EPA RRP certified for work in pre-1978 homes. We carry general liability and workers compensation insurance. Certificates are available on request.
